DENNIS GOLDING: ON THE FORESHORE

2026

Client: C3West, Museum of Contemporary Art

Role: Art Installation, Specialised Engineering

Venue: Ramsgate Beach

Expertly delivered by dplr in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Australia and Bayside Council, On the Foreshore is a landmark public mural project co-created by Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay/Biripi artist Dennis Golding and local youth. Situated on the historic shores of Kamay Botany Bay—the poignant site of first contact—this large-scale installation celebrates identity, culture, and community resilience through a powerful reclamation of space. Developed across 2025 and 2026, the artwork seamlessly integrates youth-led illustrations of family, nature, and connection with Golding’s central "rebound wave" motif—a visual metaphor carrying the voices and enduring strength of those who care for Country. By providing diverse young people with hands-on professional mentorship, On the Foreshore stands as a defining monument of cultural continuity, youth pride, and creative vitality within Bayside's booming cultural landscape.
